I have met a lot of people over the years from all walk of life’s and backgrounds. Regardless of their level of success, it seems almost everybody wants better life. They dream of what could be one day, they dream of big changes, but big changes are often difficult, and take time, but there are many smaller steps you can take right now. Take a few steps, even small ones, and pretty soon you’re making progress.
While I was fighting cancer, I learned the value of the present, the now, and how one moment can be just enough to get you through to the next. Soon, moment to moment turned into day by day, and so on. I really learned about the power of thought.
Thinking about change sets your mind and your motivation in motion. Ever buy a new car and start seeing the same model everywhere you go? The same thing happens when you buy into an idea. Imagine how it will affect your frame of mind to start seeing good things everywhere.
The first step is the hardest step. Your first goal is to focusing on improving things in the moment, in any small way. Seeing even small progress will motivate you for the more difficult steps that are to follow.
So how do you start, consider some of the following simple actions.
1. Write down some things you’d like to change. This makes the possibility real in your mind, and gets your mind focusing. Eventually you can make this list and formulate specific goals, with a specific plan.
2. Close your eyes and breathe deeply through your nose, whenever you feel stressed. Stress is one of the biggest impediments to a better life. Simple stress-management techniques like this can help a lot, if you make them a habit.
3. List the good things in your life. This may seem a bit trite, but a good mood makes life better.
I could go on, but today I will keep it short and simple. The goal here is to get you thinking, and then taking whatever actions you can. If you thought about the whole process, you might never start a lot of things, but it’s easy to take the first step, right? (And then one more, and one more…)
